Featured Asian-American Food Bloggers
Listening to and learning from people who don't look like us is one of the simplest ways to be less racist in our everyday lives. For me, I genuinely believe that following people who are different than me makes me a more understanding and less racist person.
If you've found that your feed lacks Asian representation, here are some of my favorite Asian food bloggers, food writers and Instagrammers that you might love to get to know!
Amy of Constellation Inspiration
Blog: Constellation Inspiration
Instagram: @constellationinspiration
Amy's whimsical desserts and photography consistently inspire and amaze me. She creates gorgeous desserts of all kinds, with cakes being her specialty. Many of her recipes are Asian or Asian-inspired, while others are rooted in classic European pastry. Fun fact: I based my Eggnog, Rum and Nutmeg Cookie recipe on her Matcha Neopolitan Sugar Cookies and I am IN LOVE with them!
Just One Cookbook
Blog: Just One Cookbook
Instagram: @justonecookbook
Whether you're looking for traditional or modernized Japanese recipes, Just One Cookbook is your one-stop blog. They have a whole team of Asian and Asian-American chefs (headed by Namiko Hirasawa Chen, pictured) developing recipes and writing articles about Japanese culture and travel. Their extensive backlog of recipes is ultra-reliable, so you're sure to find some new favorite recipes!
Andrea Nguyen
Blog: Viet World Kitchen
Instagram: @andreanguyen88
Andrea is the master of Vietnamese food writing. Her blog, Viet World Kitchen, is filled with traditional and modernized Vietnamese, Asian and Western recipes. I learn something new about Vietnamese culture or foods every time I read one of her recipes. She also has 6 (!!!) cookbooks for you to enjoy, ranging from The Pho Cookbook to The Bahn Mi Handbook to her latest baby, Vietnamese Food Any Day.
Ariel Lee
Blog: Average Ariel
Instagram: @arjolee
I've been following Ariel on my personal account for as long as I can remember. When I created my blog account, I knew I had to follow her there as well! On her Instagram and her blog, Average Ariel, she posts a wide range of Asian, Asian-inspired and Western recipes accompanied by simple and relaxing photography.
Erika of The Pancake Princess
Blog: The Pancake Princess
Instagram: @thepancakeprincess
Does she even need an introduction? Erika of The Pancake Princess is an incredibly popular food blogger, best known for her "Bake-Offs," where she pits similar recipes against each other. From comparing nine types of Lofthouse cookies to 16 types of biscuits, she's doing God's work out there. She also creates original recipes for baked goods, snacks and entrees!
Michelle Tam of Nom Nom Paleo
Blog: Nom Nom Paleo
Instagram: @nomnompaleo
I am not, nor have I ever been, nor will I probably ever be paleo. However, I've been following Michelle over at Nom Nom Paleo forever. She has sooo many recipes on her blog that anyone can enjoy, ranging from entrees to snacks to desserts. Her brand's animated, pig-tailed character is also just so much fun to see in my IG feed and on her blog. She's a must-follow for paleo and non-paleo people alike!
Cleo Tung
Instagram: @cleotung
Cleo is a small creator who posts inspiring and realistic vegan meals. Although she doesn't have a website, she often posts recipes or ingredient lists in her IG captions. Her posts range from simple sandwiches and salads to more elaborate bakes and vegan entrees. Her adorable elderly goldern retriever also frequents her feed, which I absolutely love.
Ruth Tam of Cook Til Delicious
Blog: Cook Til Delicious
Instagram: @rushyama
If you're into bread and baking, you need to check out Ruth Tam's Instagram and blog. Her bread recipes are detailed, scientific and always bake up perfectly, while her photography captures the natural beauty of her food, processes and ingredients. She's a professional harpist and full-time mother, but her blog (and new cookbook!) are good enough to be full-time gigs.
Kiera Wright-Ruiz
Instagram: @kierawrr
Kiera is a popular food writer and recipe developer. She started as a food photographer for Taco Bell and now writes for places like Serious Eats, New York Times and The Kitchn. One of my favorite pieces she's written, "Miyazaki's Magical Food: An Ode to Anime's Best Cooking Scenes" for Serious Eats, explains the significance of food in Studio Ghibli films. Over on IG, her posts are always lighthearted, funny and/or anime-inspired. She lets her food shine with simple photos and minimal styling.
