Seasonal Valentine's Day Recipes

I usually go out for a fancy dinner on Valentine's Day, but that isn't possible this year (hi, pandemic). If you're also staying in for Valentine's Day, I have you covered with plenty of seasonal recipes. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert are served!

Valentine’s Day Breakfast

This Fruit Butter Baked French Toast is the perfect make-ahead breakfast for you and your sweetie(s). It's like a basic French toast bake, but with fruit butter spread between the layers. It only takes about 15 minutes of prep the night before, and 45 minutes to bake the next day. What's not to like?

Another great make-ahead recipe — these sweet, cloud-like Jam-Filled Hokkaido Milk Rolls are a real treat. This recipe is slightly more involved than the baked French toast recipe, so I suggest baking the rolls the night before and then reheating individual rolls in the morning.

Soft and fluffy pancakes are the perfect breakfast for any occasion! This Kombucha Pancake recipe was one of my most popular recipes of 2020, and for good reason. The bubbly kombucha batter is super fun and only takes a few minutes to whip up, and the pancakes taste amazing!

If you prefer cakier pancakes, these Blueberry Buckwheat Pancakes are for you! They're hearty and filling, but feel special enough for Valentine's Day. Since blueberries aren’t in season in most locations, feel free to use your favorite berry or soft fruit (or chocolate chips!) in place of the blueberries.

Valentine’s day Lunch or Dinner

My Vegan Pistachio and Lemon Pasta is perfect for date night. It's easy, flavorful and feels like a dish you could order at a restaurant. Pair it with a simple salad and your date night is sorted!

Nothing says "I love you" like pizza! This Vegan Pizza Bread is perfect for baking together. You can take turns kneading the dough, or one person can make the sauce while the other makes the dough. Either way, this is a fun and delicious date night recipe!

If you need an all-purpose winter side salad, this Lemony Fingerling Potato and Kale Salad is for you. The potatoes make the dish hearty and filling, while the lemon and kale keep things light and fresh. Bonus: you probably have most of the ingredients in your kitchen right now!

Another perfect recipe for impressing your boo(s) — this Mushroom Risotto is easy to make and feels fancy enough for a special occasion! This risotto can be a savory and hearty vegetarian entree, or served as a side dish.

Valentine’s day Dessert

These Dark Chocolate and Maple Candied Blood Oranges are the perfect alternatives to boxed candies. The orange and dark chocolate makes them a little tart and bitter, while the maple syrup contributes the ideal amount of sweetness. Make these one day in advance so they have plenty of time to dry!

If your Val Day plans involve watching a movie (honestly, whose don't during a pandemic?) you better get out the popcorn! This Maple and Rosemary Kettle Corn is a flavorful spin on classic kettle corn. It only takes a few minutes to make and is the perfect post-dinner snack.

Baking chocolate chip cookies is perhaps the most romantic date night idea ever. These Spelt and Buckwheat Chocolate Chip Cookies are a crunchy twist on traditional chocolate chip cookies, and come together in less than 30 minutes!
